Two ideas that make up the NDPC's Freedom Policies have been passed through the State House.
HB1374 would forbid any government resources from being used to influence initiated measures. Rep. Kim Koppelman, the bill's primary sponsor, told the following to NDPC reporter Jacqueline Dotzenrod:
“I think it's very important for the taxpayers of North Dakota to know that their tax dollars aren’t going to be spent to influence them politically in any way. It’s been clearly understood that (taxpayer funds) can’t be used that way in candidate campaigns and this just clarifies that they can’t be used in that way for ballot measures either. I think it’s very good public policy and I was pleased to see it supported.”
HB1377 would direct the Office of Management and Budget to create a searchable website of all state expenditures. Click HERE to read more.
