Study finds Centers of Excellence had $329 million impact
The North Dakota Policy Council, a nonprofit think tank that advocates for transparent, limited government, has opposed the Centers of Excellence program.
Brett Narloch, executive director of the North Dakota Policy Council, said the study does not take into account the impact $20 million would have had cycling through the economy instead of being used for the Centers of Excellence.
He said local and federal government funding should be included in the program’s cost because it all comes from taxpayers.
“It’s terribly flawed to say that we should launder money through a bureaucracy so that they can select some privileged people to get the fruits of our labor, to get these subsidies that may or may not work out,” Narloch said.
